I saw on TV yesterday that obesity has risen to epidemic proportions in the US. As a person who is also struggling with keeping my own weight under control, I can fully understand the premise. What I don’t see however is the epidemic. I’ve seen lots of large people, overall however, no more than I’ve seen in the other developed countries I’ve been in like Germany.
I see a lot of people everyday. Today after seeing the report, I decided I would count how many really fat people I saw. That was 17. There were too many slightly overweight folks to count and an extremely high number of good looking, shapely folks. I also saw more folks that were too skinny than I saw that were too fat. That leads me to believe that the report, like so many blasted at us daily, is almost pure propaganda!
One day, we talk about how Bulimia is killing our young girls. The next day we talk about how obesity is an epidemic. Sounds just like global warming. “The Ice Age is Coming!” was on so many newspapers and magazines in the 70s that people started stocking extra wood. Some still have it. Now the old switcheroo is on and the planet is getting too hot, not cold anymore. Does anyone remember the Ice ages of the 80’s and 90’s before global warming came into effect?

First a little background. We once sold an all natural pet food (different than our current brands). As we were trying to get a vet to switch to our brand, we were given a full litany of why “the science in this pet food is better than none other.” We were beaten down relentlessly over the next few weeks, but we held strong in our beliefs. I mean really. I wake up in the morning in an area almost outside metro-Atlanta, but the air still is bad. I shower in chemically tainted water (chlorine) and my skin winds up being ultra dry as a result. The best lotion for me to counteract that is St. Ives Extra Relief Collagen Elastin and its very good, but what is all that stuff in it? Continue Reading »
